Current President & Owner

Mr. Kevin Konecky acquired Battery Safety Consulting in 2021. Mr. Konecky has extensive experience in electrification and battery system design for multiple OEM’s and start-ups.

Mr. Konecky has 25+ years of battery systems and high-voltage integration work and has been involved in multiple battery development projects, including:

  • Automotive HEV, PHEV & EV Applications
  • Consumer, Industrial and Medical battery systems and electronics
  • Drone, eVOTL and aviation battery systems
  • Energy Storage (Stationary) systems
    Converting systems from lead-acid and other chemistries to lithium-ion
  • Expert witness and expert consultant investigations
  • Battery failure analysis, evaluation, root-cause and solution

Founder

Dr.Doughty was Sion Power’s Vice President for Product Safety for over 2years. Prior to joining SION in December 2006, he had a 27 year career at Sandia National Laboratories, the last 14 of which he managed the Advanced Power Sources Research and Development Department. In this capacity, he developed understanding of battery failure modes and devised strategies for improving safety and abuse tolerance of batteries from a fundamental and practical level. Dr.Doughty chaired the SAE Committee for J2464 RecommendTest Procedure “Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicle Rechargeable EnergyStorage System (RESS) Safety and Abuse Testing”. He has participated in three National Academy of Science panels from 2001-2004 focused on advanced power source technologiesfor the military and intelligence community. Additionally, he was lead author of National Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (NEMI) Roadmap for EnergyStorage Systems of portable electronics (2002-2006).

President and founder of a company incorporated in April 2008, Dr. Daniel H. Doughty provides expert and independent consulting services for a wide range of battery safety issues.  He has extensive experience in all types of lithium rechargeable batteries as well as other battery electrochemistries.
